So, who really believes in this Nostradamus 2012 things?
Tags: 2012, believes, Nostradamus, really, Things', This
Posted in 2012 on March 9th, 2010 by RoswellUFOs.comI've seen on the history channel about Nostradamus's predictions about the world coming to an end on december 21st, 2012. Also, there's a mayan calendar predicting the same thing. What do you guys think? If you've never heard of this, please read up on it. I hate it when people answer and they don't have a clue.
I never said I believed it. Just curious who does and what reasoning they have for believing it.Popularity: 1% [?]

what reasoning do you have to believe such things? the end of a calendar just means you have to buy a new calendar. and lets say it is true… what can be done about it? just like with power and potential, the destruction of man will come from within. enjoy.

well…my friend also told me that but…once 2012 passes theres just going to be another prediction on when the world will end….All you have to do is be good truthful honest blah blah blah…you know were im getting at….to answer your question i doubt it…its like the thing about the year 2000…

They neither of them said the world was ending.NO one knows that except our LORD he is the creator it is his world we only pass thru it.What they both did say was it was the end of an age.Meaning things from that point on would be different or changed.I don't think that is so far fetched.Look at what a difference a year has made in our economy, gasoline prices, floods, tornadoes, forrest fires, mud slides and blizzard conditions before winter hardly got started. The end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009 already have been worse than in recent times.Even more avalanches so keeping all that in mind with a New war going on, anything could change and it will probably get worse before it gets better.Meaning the new age or Aquarius will be troubling world wide not just here.If we took into account all the troubles world wide you would be amazed at the total destruction going on with no relief in sight and no one knows how to fix it.That what I think it meant and they both got it right, there is always a lead up to the actual disaster you are living that now.Science says we are long overdue for a catastrophic event either a meteor, volcano,or severe earthquake or even a combination who knows? No one.Live for today, save for tomorrow and wait for the future, sounds like a plan to me.Just a thought.

First of all, DONT TRUST THE HISTORY CHANNEL. It always presents a very simple, very bias, and very inaccurate version of history. Their primary objective is to entertain. If they were to present a more conservative, fact based version of history, nobody would watch.
On to your question
Nostradamus came up with hundreds of "Prophecies," some of which people think have come true. The only problem with this is nobody who reads Nostradamus has been able to accurately explain his predictions BEFORE it happens. They read his works, then say its smiler to events that have already taken place.
For example, Nostradamus talks about a gray tower red with flame, some people think he is referring to the Twin Towers in New York. Only problem is that nobody thought that this prophecy refereed to the Twin Towers BEFORE 9/11. Its very easy to make connections between Nostradamus and past events, but impossible to do so BEFORE the events happen, hes too vague. That likely means he didn't for-see the event.
The 2012 bit is a separate issue. The Mayans didn't see time as linear…meaning with a beginning and an end. Actually Europeans didn't see time that way till St. Augustine in late 4th Century AD. The Mayans thought of time as being cyclical, with no beginning nor end. Think about the cycles of life. Morning, day, evening, night the all over again. Then their is the cycle of the moon, which is a month long cycle. Then their are the cycles of seasons which are year long. None of these cycles have an obvious beginning, none of them have ended. Thats how to think of the Mayan calander.
So 2012 isn't and end of time, its the ending of a major cycle. And much like no day is exactly the same, or no two years are exactly the same, the Mayans believed that no two cycles of time are exactly the same. So, if you could talk to a Mayan, they wouldn't tell you the world is going to end, they would say its about to change.
Also interesting. When Cortes was conquring the Aztecs, it was the ending of one of these major cycles. Some historians believe that Montazuma (the Aztec leader) didn't resist Cortes because he accepted that it was the ending of a cycle, and thus things were going to change. Plus, we have all been told that the Aztecs thought Cortes was a god because he was on a horse, thats not exactly true. Although the Aztecs had never seen horses, it had more to do with the ending of this cycle. They believed that a god was supposed to come, and Cortes did come.
Its all interesting stuff, but over hyped. The good people at the history channel want you to think its a big deal because they get money if you watch their shows.

All a bunch of crap.
My favorite example from the History Channel's show? They show a page from Nostradamus' "lost book" with three moons drawn on it, and some "expert" claims that this *must* mean 2012 because there will be three eclipses that year.
I nearly fell off the couch laughing. There are always a minimum of FOUR eclipses every year: 2 solar and 2 lunar. They may not all be total eclipses and they're not visible in every location on Earth, but there are always at least 4.
Also the Mayan calendar predicts no such thing, and neither did the Mayans. They saw it as the beginning of a new age or cycle, not the end of the world.

Well much of their explanations are interesting because these things can happy any time and I doubt they will end exactly at 2012. What bothers me is predictions being made after it already occurred like 9/11. I'm a big believer that when god or mother earth is done with us it will be our time to go.
