Where did you read about a pole shift in 2012? That is absurd, no can say in 2012 we will have a pole shift. Maybe you are thinking of the Mayan calendar coming to an end in 2012 so people say it will be the end of the world. You know people said the same chit about 2000. Be realistic, what do you think will happen?
The Mayans also had human sacrifices by cutting out people's hearts and offering the blood to their god believing it would please their god. How intelligent do you think those barbarians really were?

No, no one can. There is no scientist that isn't laughed at in his field that supports this hypothesis, if it even qualifies as one.
Space.com had an article on this a few days ago you can probably go find that basically ripped on misinformed conspiracy theorists spreading bad information. There are not a lot of site that bother to take the time to debunk it either because as I mentioned no one of any repute take this seriously.
It is just the "sky is falling" of the moment just like Y2K was supposed to be. Here is a list of some of the other failed predictions of the imminent demise of humanity.

There is no scientific proof that anything unusual will happen in 2012. It is all a wild theory based on the simple fact that the Mayan Calendar ends in 2012. The Maya culture used what is called a long-count calendar, which has the unusual feature of being non-repeating. That means it doesn't naturally start over at the end of the year. It just keeps going until the counting method completes. For an explanation of how that calendar works, see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesoamerican_Long_Count_calendar
The Maya religion divided the world into ages, with each age lasting for one Long Count. The world is supposed to end when the current age (or Long Count) finishes. In other words, according to them the world will end in 2012. There is no reason, however, to believe that they could see the future any better than you or I can. After all, they couldn't even predict the annihilation of their own culture, so why should we think they could accurately predict the end of the world? It is just a silly theory based on a long-dead religion from a people whose ability to predict the future is extremely suspect. There is no scientific evidence that their predictions will come true.

Legitimate, credible scientists have far more important work to take care of than dignifying the absurdities ballyhooed by crackpots.
True, the ancient Mayan calendar ends in 2012, but if the ancient Mayans were still around they'd simply start another one. We end / start our calendar too, just on a different time scale than the ancients.
No accredited archaelogist specializing in the Mayan civilization has interpreted their ancient calendar or anything else about their culture that says they were predicting the end of the world.
Sunspots can not cause floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, diaper rash or anything else here on Earth except for brief disruptions of radio / tv communications and a stray power outage or two.
What *will* happen in 2012, besides the sun rising in the east and setting in the west, is that our sun will briefly align with the galactic equator. This has happened countless times in Earth's history with absolutely no effect on us or our planet. No mysterious but unspecified forces will come flashing out from the center of our galaxy to wreck Earth.
One of the many assorted catastrophes that the wackos writing these books claim will happen is a reversal of Earth's magnetic poles. Just more nonsense. Earth's magnetic has indeed reversed many times in the past, and will do so again, but it takes thousands of years for the cycle to complete. It's not an instantaneous event.
As for "Planet X" — aka Nibiru — check this website =>http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/planetx/index.html
Be smart…relax and put all that unscientific crap out of your mind.

I am your proof, here it is.
in 2012 THE DEATHSTAR IS GOING TO HOVER OVER EARTH while Darth Vader and the Emperor fire lasers at all us humans and kill us all. then Vader is going to do to earth what he did to Alderaan, BLOW US UP!!!!

There are none anywhere except on Doomsday websites. Oh, there are some that explain and debunk it all. Here's one:

Note that the author is an academic, and gives an argument in unambiguous terms, so there's a lot of detail. But it's interesting reading.

just know that the mayan calendar is way way more accurate than the calendars we use today, for some reason their calendar ended on 2012, and not just the mayans either look it up you will find that even some native american indians believed that the earth was destroyed 4 times and it will end its 5 cycle on 2012
