Why do some people predict "Dooms day?"?

Posted in 2012 on January 17th, 2012 by RoswellUFOs.comQuestion by robert f: Why do some people predict "Dooms day?"?
In the astronomy & space section of Yahoo! Answers, I post and respond. I noticed that some people in astronomy & space are predicting the world will end in 2012. Yesterday, "Nostradamus 2012" was on the History Channel. What makes people even think about the world ending? Some people do not just think about the world ending, but they try to convince people that xyz predicted the world will end. Just because the date is changing or the Mayan calender is starting a new cycle does not mean the world will end. What makes people think this way?

Q&A: Why are some people so stupid and so easily convinced?

Posted in End of the World on August 12th, 2011 by RoswellUFOs.comQuestion by Kevin: Why are some people so stupid and so easily convinced?
People honestly believe that 2012 will be the end of the world. And they also believe that Nostradamus really predicted the future with his so-called "prophecies". He uses the most vague wording possible so that it can be tied to almost any event. Why are people so ignorant and look at everything except facts to make decisions and believe in "the end of the world"?Best answer:

Because they dont know any better. Thats like asking why people believe deeply in religion. There is no way to tell if things are true or not until they are proven otherwise so as long as it doesnt happen, anyone can believe what ever they wish and not be wrong.Give your answer to this question below!

December 21, 2012 and Nostradamus Have Been Scaring People on the History Channel

Posted in Prophecies on May 29th, 2011 by RoswellUFOs.comI guess the idea of the world ending as we know it can be a scary proposition, and sensationalizing the negative possibilities is much less boring than the happy ending. Perhaps that's why horror movies do so well. It's just more fun to watch something scary than something that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling about the future. Aren't we supposed to be scared about the future anyway? It's so intimidating and capricious. Even when we read or listen to Nostradamus, Edgar Casey, or any person reporting the ability to see the future, can we truly trust what they are saying? We unusually can not identify their predictions until we find something happening that we can attach to their predictions. Before something happens, we can only venture a guess as to what they are saying. The truth is that while we are inundated with the scientific details of why the end of the world is exactly what was predicted, we miss the full message of the prophecy. There are two sides of the story. Without going into all of that scientific detail, one thing the History Channel admits is that Nostradamus always mentions in his predictions is that there are more than one possible outcome. He does not fail to mention the personal choice that we all have that could ultimately influence the outcome of our impending doom.
The Truth about the Prophecy
The truth about Nostradamus' prophecy can be found through a study of the Mayan calendar system. According to the system, our home star, the Sun, will transect the center of the galaxy. At the same time, earth's rotation will also change, like the wobble of a spinning top. This is one point that scares people, but when I spin a top and it wobbles, it still spins in the same direction. Some have stated that the earth's changing orientation will change the gravitational field of the planet. I emphatically disagree. I'm no mathematician, but if my top keeps spinning with no perceptible negative concerns, why would our planet's spin and gravitational pull suddenly work under some other laws of physics? I hold fast to the cyclical nature of the calendar and astrology of the time. The Maya where to most advanced society in terms of astrological knowledge at the peak of their power. Their pyramids and calendar system are a demonstration of the beauty of their connection with the universe. They were able to look out beyond our solar system, track occurrences and assign formations of the heavens to attributes of our physical world. They then repeated the cycle over and over, and with uncanny accuracy were able to duplicate the prophetic abilities of Nostradamus and other seers of the future.
What this means for us
Relax. If one studies the prophecies, Revelations, and the Mayan calendar system, one can be comforted by the words "as we know it". The world will change "as we know it". The world has already changed as we know in the past twenty years. I remember when certain companies would only accept new employees in a specified area after they performed work in that area for free. Now students come out of colleges without practical experience; they are expected to learn via on the job training. Television is now "HD". Cellular phones have video capability (thanks Captain Kirk). Things change, and the malleable human race continues to change with the changes in the Universe. This is our relationship with the Universe. I am grateful that we continue to grow and thrive. Consequently, according to the Mayan calendar system, in the age we live in, prior to the Age of Aquarius, and starting around November 2011, is one where we all will be conscious of our ability to co-create our existence. But that is another story.

Why do you think people are falling for this "End of the World" thing…again?
Tags: falling, people, thing...again, think, This, world
Posted in End of the World on March 17th, 2011 by RoswellUFOs.comQuestion by RosePhoenix: Why do you think people are falling for this "End of the World" thing…again?
I mean, we went through the same thing in Y2K I'm pretty sure most of you remember that. We came out of it okay on account of how many people were killed in the machine uprising, how many was it again? Right. 0! Why are people suddenly going crazy again into a mass hysteria about 2012 when all it is, is that the Mayans simply didn't add more days to their calendar? And furthermore, why are people suddenly saying that Nostradamus said that the world would end in 2012 when he never said anything of the kind? Any theories (other than the obvious, "people today are dumb") as to why people are believing this bull?Best answer:

why are people so eager to believe in the mythical "Nibiru" and "planet X?"?

Posted in Nibiru on February 26th, 2011 by RoswellUFOs.comQuestion by alex: why are people so eager to believe in the mythical "Nibiru" and "planet X?"?
if anyone did the slightest bit of research* they would see the truth! nibiru doesnt exist! the nasa website even says so! the world is by no means going to end. I want to know why, despite the overwhelming proof, are so many people so ignorant as to believe that we are all going to die?*by research i mean government websites and books, not youtube videos and third-party websites without a single shred of sources or evidence.

http://nai.nasa.gov/astrobio/astrobio_detail.cfm?ID=2707
and this website debunks the mayan calendar, nodstradamus, pole shift, and pretty much every other "2012" hoax out there.

Why are people believing that the world will end 21st december, 2012?
Tags: 2012, 21st, believing, December, people, that, will, world
Posted in Nasa on January 3rd, 2011 by RoswellUFOs.comQuestion by p1nk_gladiator: Why are people believing that the world will end 21st december, 2012?
I have a small question. I am curious, as to why people seem to be thinking it, as many have before about the previous "world ending dates"Why are people believing that the world will end 21st december, 2012?
I've googled it, and there are a lot of stories coming up about numerous things like "the Mayan Calendar" which is the only one that actually mentions this "world ending" and there are a couple of articles on the NASA website, about 2012, and 2013. Neither of which mention a "world ending". But only of a "new solar cycle" and "solar storm", people are getting really freaked out about the world ending on the specific date of 21st December, 2012 at 11.11pm GMT
So why are people actually believing it – and would it actually happen? And if this story has been going round for a while – why has it not broke world news?
And there is a film coming out on 13th November, 2009 about the "world ending" Is this where people are getting it from? because a lot of people are starting to believe it will actually happen!
Could a Solar Cycle, or Solar Storm – End the world? there is a lot of rubbish floating around about this event, as there was with the previous world ending dates.
Sorry if this may be an inconvenient question and a complete waste of time reading it.
But i would like to know, as my curiosity is getting the better of me!
my nextdoor neighbour is actually freaking about it considering he is 15! i personally believe the whole lot is rubbish and will not happen for thousands and thousands of years to come.
This is to actually show him, what other people thinkBest answer:

Posted in End of the World on December 19th, 2010 by RoswellUFOs.comI was looking on wikipedia and Nostradamus predicted the world would end in 2013 but another man predicted it to end in 3797… If Nostradamus predicted the world trade centers would be be hit, then wouldn't he be right about 2013? I heard that 3797 is confirmed instead of 2012.

How many people think the world will end Dec. 12, 2012?
Tags: 2012, Dec., many, people, think, world
Posted in End of the World on December 12th, 2010 by RoswellUFOs.comA lot of major religions have honed in on this date as the end of the world. Nostradamus wrote about it. The Mayan calendar, a meticulous, very accurate calendar, mysteriously ends on this date when there was more room on the stone to keep going. The most commonly believed theory is that of Planet X orbiting between Earth and the sun. It's supposed to be catastrophe. If not the end of the world, the end of the world as we know it. What do you think?
