I am not a mathematician and not a astrology buff much. But I was thinking today about how far away Nibiru would actually be right now from earth IF it were to hit in 2012. Then I got to thinking about what Lieder said (woman who first hypothesized this collision, using sitchens planet) and how it is to the right of the sun now, heading our way. I also thought about the orbit purposed by sitchen (creator of the idea of this hypothesized planet (1978), which by the way, to him was not expected to hit until almost 3000 ad). Sitchen said it orbits REALLY close to the sun (closer than mercury) and then outward past jupiter (very oblong orbit). Lieder says it is just to the right of the sun, was behind earlier not too long ago, heading for us. My problem is, the Math doesn't seem to add up to "Dec 21, 2012". Here is why

Earth is 93 million miles from the sun
Mercury (lets use since it is closest to the sun) travels 938 million miles per 365 days around the sun
Earth travels 587 million miles per 365 days around the sun
The speed of orbit actually depends how close to the sun you are.

If this supposed planet is directly to the right of the sun, it would be 93 million miles away (or so) or even behind the sun, add another 10 million if you want. So 103 million miles, how in the world could it reach earth in a year in a half, if a year at the SLOWEST it could travel, would be 587 MILLION miles a year? By Dec 2012 It would be somewhere near or past Jupiter by then. And it would actually hit earth in about 2 months time.

I might have been way off, you tell me. Seems right but it is very basic. Is this way off or not?
I am not wondering if it is real, I am wondering if my calculations are correct or WAY off

The information about Nibiru on the internet is wildly inconsistent because, when you come down to it, it's all made up, all invented, and mostly by people with no understanding of astronomy or how real planets behave. Don't even try to make sense of it because it will drive you crazy.

Maybe the Mayans meant it would be the arrival of a crappy new pop star. Some kind of Miley Cyrus spin-off(I was thinking Wanda Nevada instead of Hannah Montana)

This was inspired by some moron who actually believed in the whole end of the world.

But anyway, what do you think we misinterpreted for(be creative!)

Here's a quote from the book "Nostradamus Predicts the End of the World" by Rene Noorbergen.

Just wondered if anyone else has seen it and whether you believe it.

Oh, in case you were wondering what went where the ellipsis is at the beginning of the quote, it was the words "Sometime before 1995…". The book was written in 1981. I wonder how I missed a whole World War. I must have really been daydreaming.
So I guess another question is, why do so many people pay any attention to all this Nostradamus nonsense?
Chainlightning, I'll be darned! I read that book and forgot all about it until you just mentioned it. I suppose what I learned from it has just been incorporated in my general knowledge.
Archit, I think if you look at the thing rationally and hear both sides, it becomes pretty clear that people comb through hundreds of vague, ambiguous verses until they find something that *could* be twisted to relate to some particular disaster. then they allow themselves the liberty of simply ignoring lines which are irrelevant and just can't be twisted. With all thos verses and all the disasters one can glean from history, it is no wonder that some contorted similarities pop up. Nostradamus didn't predict any of those things. That "Hitler" thing remains a popular reference despite the fact that it has been thoroughly debunked. The word was Hister, see the twisting? Hister is a river south of Germany. I have seen and debated all those others. Believe me, it's post hoc nonsense. Nobody EVER makes accurate predictions BEFORE the fact.

Actually… There are quite a few references that state, Russia would attack Europe, then America, after a war in the Middle East. Which doesn't make sense, I know. But if you think about it, what's the one country that could take over right now? Russia. People pay attention to it, because it's interesting.

I mean, we went through the same thing in Y2K I'm pretty sure most of you remember that. We came out of it okay on account of how many people were killed in the machine uprising, how many was it again? Right. 0! Why are people suddenly going crazy again into a mass hysteria about 2012 when all it is, is that the Mayans simply didn't add more days to their calendar? And furthermore, why are people suddenly saying that Nostradamus said that the world would end in 2012 when he never said anything of the kind? Any theories (other than the obvious, "people today are dumb") as to why people are believing this bull?

Ok, I have heard plenty of stories , I am not buying the Mayan Calender or any other predictions and that nonsense about planet x or whatever, but NASA has said something about the earth will enter a Galactic field and the pole's will shift there position and I have seen Acclaimed astronomers saying it will cause total devastion to our planet. What do you guys really think is going to happen when Earth passes through this magnetice field and has this happened before recently? BTW, alot of people would like to think our planet is immuned to this sort of stuff, but actually in the universe stuff like this happens very regular. We our never really secure and if you thought otherwise I would say that is a false sense of arrogance and security. Really , I am concerned a lil about this since NASA has said something about the Pole Shift that will happen as a result of passing through this galactic field. Is there any evidence that this will have any detrimental effects on us and the planet?

Ok, well, that is not what I thought, but at least I went to NASA and got a straight answer on it. Those 2 Astro Physicst I am talking about is that Asian guy and the African American Gentleman that are always on the history channel or other programs talking about this. I don't know, but I have my answer now. Thank God that we don't have to worry lol
oh btw Tina, I asked a question and I have gotten an answer that I am saitisfied with. I didn't find out about this on the Internet. I first seen it on the History channel. Something I would be shocked to find out if you watched that sorta thing. I would think you would be the more type to rather find out who Paris Hiltons New BFF is going to be.
